Spoon

Formed in Newcastle in 1995. They picked up a good following along the way, playing all the major venues and honing their original music. The Spoon sound was uniquely pop due to the bands eclectic approach to songwriting and its ability to democratise its influences. The band played a thrash of punked up soul, jazz, heavy folk and dirty funk. Their self-titled Spoon CD was recorded at Charing Cross Studios in Sydney by Wayne Connelly (Aria Engineer of the Year Award) and is a seven track offering that represents the first two years of the band’s life. Three-fiths of the band moved to Melbourne in 1999 to continue their musical growth.
