Me Me Me

Me Me Me play old guitars through valve amps and have a deep affection for spy music, fifties sci-fi and spaghetti western sounds. Songs range from love songs throught to surf instrumental to rockabilly protest, quirky pop and throbbing voodoo. The band describe their music as "surfin' golgothabilly pop".

They have on different occasions been likened to 'The Cramps', 'The B-52's', 'The Shadows', 'The Triffids', 'The Gun Club', 'The Bad Seeds' and 'The Pretenders'. They are quirky, sublime, beautiful, ugly, hilarious, occasionally political and sometimes deadly serious.
To date they have released and EP, a mini album, various singles and a number of tracks on compilation albums.

Spy movies, 1950s sci-fi and spaghetti western sounds are all music to the ears of Me Me Me who will launch its latest cd 'Remorse ismY Bitter Companion this Saturday night at the Northern Star Hotel.

While its songwriting may be eclectic the band has adopted a more accessible approach to live performances, returning to its roots in rockabilly covers, as well as originals.'It gives people a little bit more of a handle on where you're coming from,' guitarist KARL RICHRDSON said.

According to Richardson, Rockabilly is enjoying a resurgence in Sydney where the band plays most of its shows. 'I don't know about you but I'm all Indie-popped out,' he said.

The group has added covers by 'Janis Martin',considered the female Elvis in the 1950s, with 'Johnny Burnette' and 'Elvis Presley' Sun (studio) songs.

The latest CD was recorded basically live to an eight-track recorder and is as raw as the early rock and roll records. The approach has worked well in Sydney where audiences range from died-in-the-wool rockabilly dancers and 'sick puppies' looking for 'thrash garage trash'. 'Some of the die-hard rockers are so particular with authenticity but that doesn't hold with us,' Richardson said. 'We like to mush everything around a bit.' The result of the live covers has been an audience tailor-made for Me Me Me's original sounds.

Me Me Me also features DEAN UPSTON on upright bass, DELORES FOXTONFINN on guitar and lead vocals, and DARRIN MORGAN on drums.
